Unions help make life better for everyone
LIUNA Local 92 provides its’ members with representation to achieve better wages, pension contributions, employer policies, work schedules and job security. Local 92 members have the protection of a legally binding Contract that is negotiated by Local 92 and is ratified by the employees who will be working under the terms of that Contract.
A union helps neutralize pay discrimination.
The most recent reports from the Canadian Labour Congress shows:
For women in a union, the weekly pay advantage is 35% or $7.10/hour more than non-union women in the workforce.
Young union workers earn about 27% more with a Union in their workplace.
Indigenous workers earned $6.51/ hour more with a Union.
New Canadians (landed immigrants) earned $3.97 more per hour with a Union in their workplace.
Our Union, Local 92, through its officials and representatives, bargains with employers to reach collective agreements on behalf of our Union members. This bargaining may include the negotiation of wages, holiday entitlement, work practices, dispute procedures, workplace safety, recruitment, disciplinary protocols, health, pension and other benefits. Whether you work in the construction, service or maintenance, Local 92 is here to represent and protect our members in their place of employment. Everyone deserves to make a “living wage,” which means to earn a wage you can raise a family with.
